Butler Fuels Offers Fuel Donation for those in need in Devizes

Local heating oil supplier, Butler Fuels, which has a depot in Devizes, is offering 500 litres of heating oil (kerosene) to a worthy community project, charity, organisation or hospice, this autumn.

Butler Fuels asks that nominations for the free fuel are made for organisations in the Devizes area which currently use heating oil.  The closing date for nominations is 22 November 2013. To nominate, email bursary@butlerfuels.co.uk, describing the organisation being put forward, with a brief description of why it should receive 500 litres of heating oil. Full contact details of both nominator and nominee should also be included so the Butler Fuels team can get in touch.

As part of its commitment to making a positive impact on the community it serves, Butler Fuels, via its parent company Certas Energy, has linked up with Independent Age as its national charity partner and wants to hear from individuals or organisations that might need a helping hand with fuel as the weather gets colder.

Independent Age is an established and growing charity, helping thousands of older people live more fulfilling lives, particularly those who are struggling financially, are socially isolated or are in need of advice and information about care and support issues.  The advice service and free written information is integrated with local support, including one-to-one and group befriending.

Sue Lewis, Regional Manager at Butler Fuels, said: “As the seasons start to change, our focus turns to keeping homes and properties warm and helping people to get prepared ahead of any major drop in temperature.  By offering a fuel donation, along with our connection with Independent Age, we hope we can make a difference in the local community when the nights draw in and severe weather conditions kick in.”

Janet Morrison, chief executive at Independent Age, said: “We welcome this positive initiative from Butler Fuels which, through its parent brand Certas Energy, is now working in partnership with Independent Age.

“Older people living in isolation can feel even more cut off from society once the days get shorter; Independent Age can help address issues worsened by winter with advice about benefits, care and support available, including opportunities to increase social networks through befriending. We are working with the Certas Energy team to reach and help more older people and to help individuals feel connected with the local community. We encourage anyone concerned about an older neighbour, relative or friend to apply for this fuel donation.”

Successful applicants will be notified within 28 days of the closing date.
