Fairford Oil Suppliers links up with Independent Age

Local heating oil supplier, Butler Fuels, through its parent company Certas Energy, has launched a national partnership with Independent Age (www.independentage.org), a charity working with and for older people, through advice, befriending and campaigning. Both organisations are encouraging oil buyers to buy their fuel early ahead of the busy winter period and, for those worried about how they will manage during the winter, to seek advice and support from charities such as Independent Age.”

Butler Fuels, is committed to making a positive impact on the local communities it serves and has partnered with the charity to help support older people in need.

Independent Age is an established and growing charity, helping thousands of older people live more fulfilling lives, particularly those who are struggling financially, are socially isolated or are in need of advice and information about care and support issues.

The advice service and free written information is integrated with local support, including one-to-one and group befriending.

Steve Gettings, regional manager at Butler Fuels, said: “As a business, we take our commitment to the local area very seriously and we’re really looking forward to developing our partnership with Independent Age. The charity has much to offer older people living in Fairford and we wholeheartedly support its work.

“We aim to have a positive effect on the surrounding areas and our support of Independent Age will help them reach even more vulnerable older people, especially as the weather starts to turn colder. We feel that looking after the more vulnerable members in our local community is our responsibility and we’re hopeful that we can make a difference.”

The partnership with Independent Age comes at a time when Butler Fuels’ parent company has been rebranded and will now be known as Certas Energy.

Janet Morrison, Chief Executive at Independent Age, said: “Having Butler Fuels on board as a charity partner, via its parent company Certas Energy, is great news for us. The company recognises its responsibility to the local community – in particular its older customers – and we want to help them deliver on that commitment. By telling their customers about the Independent Age advice service, our free Wise Guides and the befriending services that our volunteers provide, we will be able to support even more older people, particularly those who are vulnerable because of frailty, poverty or social isolation.”
